Sumud Scents ("we", "us") sells fragrances through sumudscents.com. We are responsible for the personal information described here. You can contact us at sumudltd@gmail.com.

• Email address, and the page and scent you signed up from, when you join our waiting list or newsletter. We use this to email you about launches and offers, only if you asked us to.
• Name, email address, delivery address and order details when you place an order. We use these to take payment, send your order and contact you about it.
• Name, email address and a securely scrambled (hashed) password if you create an account.
• Reviews you choose to write, including the name and email you enter.
• Small cookies that remember your basket, wishlist, compared scents and recently viewed scents. These are needed for the shop to work and don't identify you.
• Simple visit statistics (which pages are viewed, and roughly where visitors come from) so we can improve the site. These don't use cookies and don't identify you.
• A gift message, if you ask us to add one to your order.

For marketing emails, it's your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. For orders and accounts, it's to fulfil our contract with you. For record-keeping such as accounts and tax, it's our legal obligations.

We only share what's needed with the companies that help us run the shop. They act on our instructions and don't use your details for their own marketing:

• Stripe, to take card payments. We never see or store your full card number.
• Royal Mail, to deliver your order.
• Supabase, which stores our database.
• Resend, which sends our emails.
• Netlify, which hosts the website.
• Plausible Analytics, which counts visits without cookies or personal profiles. It processes data in the EU.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, it's under appropriate safeguards. We never sell your information.

Waiting-list and newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Order records are kept for six years for tax and accounting purposes. Account details are kept until you ask us to delete the account.

Every marketing email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it takes one click. You can also email us and we'll remove you.

You can ask us to see, correct, delete or restrict the information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email sumudltd@gmail.com and we'll respond within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
